SAIL RIGGING

Yacht's sail rigging is Bermuda top sloop. The total maximum windage area according to yacht's stability terms is 170 m2 with wind force up to 5 balls. In case of wind increasing the sail area is to be decreased.

WINDAGE AREA DISTRIBUTION

- Main sail      - 41 m2
- Jib sail         - 38 m2
- Stay sail       - 66 m2

SPARS AND RIGGING

Masts and boom are of welded construction, made from fusible alloy.
- The section of the main sail, diameter - 220x4 mm.
- Mast length - 16.5 m.
- Steel rope diameter - 10 mm.
- Diameters of synthetic ropes of running rigging - 16 and 18 mm.

DECK OUTFIT

SHAFTING AND PROPELLER

Shafting consists of the angle reduction gear made of corrosion-resistant material with reduction 1.55, thrust and steady bearings and cooling system. 3-fixed-blade propeller with diameter 350 mm is used.

FRESH WATER SYSTEM

This system is for keeping, heating, supplying of fresh water to the galley, sinks, WC wash-stands and shower rooms. Fresh water store system consists of 2 inserted tanks with total capacity 1.0 t. and pipeline and water pump systems.

DRAINAGE SYSTEM

The system is used for disposal of sea water occasionally penetrated on shipboard back to sea. Scuppers are used for flowing liquid between hull compartments. The drainage system consists of one hand water pump located in cockpit.

HULL CONSTRUCTION

Yacht's hull is made by composite manner. Main framing is made from wooden battens with section 30x30 mm. Batten shape allows to assemble all the yacht's plating in lock
(see picture 1).

Hull plating is covered with 4-5 coatings of fiber glass using reinforced epoxy resin type of ED20 with total thickness - 5.5 mm. The total plating thickness is not less than 35 mm.
The given thickness ensures the strength and the lightness of the hull. This construction corresponds to German Lloyd's Register requirements.

The framing consists of:
- Cross framing with frames made from pasted oak battens 10x45 mm. The total frames section 40x65 mm.
- Main bulkheads with the pine timbers installation 100x50 mm which covered and pasted with water resistant plywood, 10 mm thick. The total thickness of main bulkheads is 70 mm.
- Beams made from pasted oak battens with total section 40x40 mm.
- Bar keel made from pasted whole oak boards. Bar keel dimensions 160x120 mm.
Bar keel is connected with main bulkheads with bolts (12 mm in diameter)
and brackets.
- Floors are made from oak timber with variable sections and are used as keel bar bed. The dimension at the foundation area is 120 mm.
- The special frame made from non-corrosive angles with the wall thickness 4 mm (see the picture 2).

The keel envelope is made of stainless steel and filled with the lead ballast. The total keel mass is 3.6 t. The keel is connected with keel floors by using 24 pins made of stainless steel with diameter 22 mm. Keel shape is showed on the picture 3.

The present connection was successfully tested by many yachts and never caused any problems. The connection of the main engine is carried out by same manner with help of floors system and metal frame (see the picture 4).

After many trials of the real yachts we came to classic yacht's lines which are used in the given project. Original tests of this project gave the following results:
- Speed by engine with power 70 hp    - 10 knots;
- Speed under sails                             - 14 knots;
- List by speed 14 kns                        - 14 degrees;
- Steep ness of run to wind up to        - 30 degrees;
- Good rising on the wave;
- Good sails centering;
- Easy control response;
- The absence of the yawing motion by fair wind;

INNER LAYOUT

There are 4 separate cabins in the yacht which are located as:

-The skipper's fittings and store rooms are located in the head of the yacht. Access from the deck via hatch.
-Then to stern direction there are 2 same cabins with double beds, lockers for clothes, separate hygiene equipment blocks and shower;
-The mess-room is located next and lifted over the yacht's bottom up to 800-900 mm.

The mess-room has the spacious deck-house which has the galley at the starboard side and the sofa with the table from portside which able to be converted to the double bed. There is navigator's table and navigational equipment in the deck-house.
